Why Choose the Fluorescent Photography Course?

Are you bored of standard night dives and want to see something different? Do you like your photos to stand out from everybody else's? Do you want to capture photos of the reef in a totally different light? Then this underwater photography course with a difference is for you. The 3-dive Fluorescent Photography Course will show you the secret world of underwater fluorescence and teach you how to capture psychedelic images that are truly unique.

On the first dive you will provided with an in-depth briefing on how fluorescence works, the science behind this natural phenomenon and how the dive will be conducted, including essential safety procedures. You will then complete the first amazing fluo-dive without a camera, so you get the full fluo-dive experience without distractions, letting you absorb the wonders of the fluorescent underwater world. You can also plan subjects for the following two photo-dives of the course that will concentrate on capturing fluorescent organisms on camera. You will be provided with a camera system set-up specifically for fluo-photography, which includes the premium fluorescent dive light, the Light & Motion Sola Nightsea, Nightsea Strobe Excitation Filter and both Lens & Mask Barrier Filters, and will be shown the techniques needed to capture stunning fluo-images.

At the end of this workshop you will be proficient in: setting up your camera system to shoot underwater fluorescence; understanding the limitations of compact camera systems to shoot fluorescence; shooting fluo-images in an environmentally friendly manner; adjusting camera settings for correct exposure; using a strobe to light fluorescent subjects; composition for fluo-photos; and correctly editing your fluorescent images.
For further information on fluorescence, visit the Resources Page on the Nightsea website. For some examples of what you may get to photograph, please see the Fluorescence Photo Gallery.

Alex is one of the worlds leading underwater fluo-photographers, having been shooting in this unique style since 2010. He has written numerous articles for dive magazines, had his fluo-images widely published in both the dive press and mainstream media and given fluo-photography technique presentations at the Dive Show 2015 in Birmingham, UK and DRT Dive Show Manila, Philippines.
