PADI Self-Reliant Diver Course

All underwater photographers and videographers should consider taking the Self-Reliant Diver Course, as when shooting underwater it is quite common to be a little too far from your buddy to rely on them for help. Being self-reliant is the safest way to dive for underwater imaging, leaving you free to concentrate on the shot, rather than worrying about which direction your buddy or dive group have gone. Without the need to keep an eye on your buddy, you can then spend as much time as you want with a subject, perfecting your techniques, mastering composition and capturing stunning images of marine-life behaviour. The PADI Self-Reliant Diver Course will teach you everything needed to dive safely and confidently without a dive buddy.

During this course you will learn:
• The Buddy System vs. Solo Diving
• Self-Rescue Techniques
• Dive Planning & Dive Management
• Equipment Requirements for Self-Reliant Diving
• Gas Management & SAC Rate Calculations
• Independent Management of Dive Emergencies

Why Choose the PADI Digital Underwater Photography Course?

The PADI Self-Reliant Diver Course (also known as Solo Diver) is aimed at experienced divers that wish to learn the skills to dive safely and confidently without a buddy. The course is conducted over 2-days and consists of 3-training dives, which will be followed up with your first solo dive, putting your newly acquired skills into practice while your instructor supervises from a distance. Completion of this course will lead to you becoming a safer diver, being more aware and ultimately more confident in the water. You will develop the skills of planning and carrying out dives without a dive-partner where preferred or necessary. You will sharpen your skills of diving self-reliance, making you a stronger diving partner in a dive pair or team. This course is not just for underwater photographers & videographers, it will benefit all divers even if you have no intention of diving without a buddy in the future.

To enrol for the PADI Self-Reliant Diver Course you need to have a minimum certification level of Advanced Open Water Diver and have logged at least 100 dives.

The maximum student to instructor ration that we teach at Dive4Photos is 2:1. We also add-in an extra dive to the course outline to help build your confidence and make you a stronger Self-Reliant Diver.
